Web service

In more simple words, a web service is a service provided by the Internet. Web services are not linked to any browser, computer, programming language or operating system; they are autonomous and are used to exchange data between different systems or applications.

Opportunities of web services

  • REMOTE PROCEDURE CALL

A web service is a unit of operated code unit that can be activated via HTTP requests, whereby a variety of resources may communicate with each other regardless how far from each other the computers on which they run. Therefore, to bring the Web service in action, you just connect the Internet with your browser and enter the appropriate request.

  • POSSIBILITY OF EXCHANGE ANY DATA

Using Web resources different applications can interact with each other, i.e. one program can cause any procedure of other programs, for example, to exchange data or services. Thus, these services solve the problem of the heterogeneity of existing Internet applications that use different technologies, languages and software platforms, and therefore the Internet user has access to almost any resource.

  • AVAILABILITY AND SIMPLICITY

Web-services don’t require additional configuration, administration, and installing special software because developers are engaged in maintenance of their working capacity, they also provide access to its resources. Therefore any person can use these services, because there is no need for knowledge in programming.

  • AUTOMATICAL EXECUTION OF MULTIPLE OPERATIONS

Web service helps automate many business processes such as order tickets, reserve a table, billing and many others, so you have the opportunity to implement almost any idea. But firstly it is necessary to define for what solutions of tasks you will develop web service because at the initial stage it is important to think not only about utility of the development, but also about its relevance.
